The Sorceress’s Apprentice

"The Sorceress's Apprentice: Plan-B (Elder Codex) (Volume 1)" by JL Lahey

Badger, an eight-year-old orphan, has spent his entire life hiding in books, reading of the heroic deeds performed by valiant knights and courageous adventurers. While attempting to save the lives of his fellow orphans he manifests a magic like power. He soon learns that using this power comes with a great risk to his own life. A beautiful sorceress, clad all in black, soon arrives with an offer to adopt him and teach him how to properly wield his powers. Once they leave, he learns that the sorceress is really the leader of a group of adventurers, and they're not the type of heroes that he has ever read about in books. They’re the kind that steal, get drunk, rob graves, loot tombs, and shoot people in the back. They basically only do what they need to in order to have a really good time. Badger is wondering what type of tale has he gotten into, because he has never read a story quite like this one!

When Millionaires Disregard Us

"When Millionaires Disregard Us" by May Harnish

The author of the book, May, is in her 30s. She has been working in international relations sphere for quite some years. One day she decided that she knew and saw too much to write some fiction about everyday modern life in the city (Amsterdam) with its modern priorities. So this is the set of 8 stories published in Amsterdam in January 2017, devoted to adventurous people looking for their place in life in various ways. As in real life (and the stories are based on real life), there are good and bad, and even those who are look good but are bad inside. And those who are sure they are so very bad, but still they remain at least a little bit good. The book is not about love and hate. The book is more about how to live well compromising between love and hate. The author wanted these stories to be reader friendly, so they can accompany one’s 5 o’clock drink and don’t affect readers’ good sleep. “They say: don’t try to meet somebody, better become somebody. They say: don’t believe your past, believe your future. They say: it is important where you finish, not where you start. But it is also important where you have been on the way”.
