Ridvan Cinar has spent the last 10 years living in 5 different countries and travelling frequently. He has met great people, of a kind that he would characterise as global citizens. These people have taken a step forward, out of their comfort zone and have moved abroad. Their reasons have been manifold: to look for better opportunities, to seek refuge, to search for happiness, to reunite with their loved ones, to improve their career, to experience another culture and to volunteer. He has been delighted to listen their stories and could not keep his amazement at their experiences to himself. It was time to share these fascinating stories with you.
Stories of Global Citizens presents a collection of 32 interviews carried out between 2016 and 2018 with people living abroad. From Americans living in Germany and Poland, to Mexicans living in Austria and Brazil. From Colombians living in USA and Turkey to Canadians living in Thailand and Germany, and many more. The interviews reflect on their stories with insights into culture shocks, their motivations to move abroad, funny experiences they have had and thoughts on what is going on back at “home”. While reading these interviews, you will be surprised, amazed, at a loss for words, saddened, sympathetic, and you will find a little bit of yourself.
